The Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging topic polarising much attention as there isn't a single day without a new startup or gadget in the so-called IoT space. But beyond the buzz today's real use cases and challenges are engineering topic: vast amount of data to transport and store, security, data models, standards, accuracy, visualisation, machine learning and so on.

Backed up by real use-cases you'll learn what IoT's reality is today, and where we are heading.

About the speaker

Emmanuel Tychon is a Solutions Architect in the Industry Vertical Group (IVG) creating, developing and customising solutions in both the energy and IoT space for Cisco’s largest and most influential customers in Europe and emerging markets. Previously Emmanuel worked as Technical Support and as Technical Leader for Cisco’s core software platforms.

Emmanuel joined Cisco in 1997 and holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Liège, Belgium.

Practical details

This conference will be held in English on 28 November 2016, 12:30, in the Montefiore building (B28), R3. The conference is free, but registration is required.

The IEEE Student Branch organises a PCB making lecture in two parts.

The first part will be held the 25th February from 12h40 until 13h30 and the second part the 4th March from 12h40 until 13h30. They take place in the room R7 (Montefiore B28).

The first part will contain:

  • Theoritical aspects
  • Electrical characteristics
  • How to use the drawing software (Altium)

The second part

  • Tips
  • Some circuits design

Registration is free but mandatory.

The IEEE Student Branch invites you to our first drink of the year to discuss our upcoming conferences and trainings. It will take place in Montefiore's Hall on Thursday 27 October, 21:45 to 13:30.

The Liège IEEE student branch proposes a tutorial to the linux command line/shell.
The tutorial will be held on Thursday October 9th at 2 pm (approx. 3h) in the room A4 (B7b).

The tutorial will demonstrate the use of a shell terminal under linux/unix, from file handling to system administration and bash scripting.

Required hardware: your machine with OSX or Linux installed

Price : free* for IEEE members, 1€ for the others.
